We choose to concentrate our growth in SAFE cities,   (www.ssp.rj.gov.br/epoca/p04.asp) and cities with the most “bang for the buck,” (do you know that a surgical procedure – and your dinner and hotel room for that matter! - in Rio or Sao Paulo can cost TWICE as much as in another city just because of the economy of the metropolis?)  Other cities may have major industries in operation there (take the Petroleum industry for example that needs to house their executives during the week) that drive up the cost of hotel rooms to ridiculously high levels due to supply and demand.  And while there are indisputably famous and excellent surgeons and hospitals in these major cities, there are just as many in smaller or less “famous” cities where the economy and location afford a Quality of Life that cannot be had in large cities.  Many of the best doctors have the luxury of living where their Quality of Life is best, hence, Santos, SP  for example, is the Plastic Surgery Capital of Brazil, one of the Top 20 Safest Cities in Brazil and home to at least 3 internationally known plastic surgeons including the current President of the SBCP (Brazilian Society of Plastic Surgery) and plastic surgery residency facilities due to the plethora of skilled plastic surgeons located there.

EXPERIENCE:

Because of my background, MNB has evolved by catering to and caring for the highest risk patient and those prone to THE most complications and compromised health entering into a surgery.  Those that need to have weight loss surgery due to morbid obesity and the health issues that plague them and those that have had weight loss/ gastric bypass surgery and often have massive amounts of skin to remove and a whole new body to create.  These unique patients will require an average of 5-6 major reconstructive procedures performed during a short period of time (4-6 weeks) and 2-3 surgery stages.  Concentrating on this kind of patient, the “worst” kind of patient, we have honed our skills and services to be acutely aware of all that can go wrong and in spite of the tendency for these patients to have post op complications due to nutritional deficiencies, etc, our complication rate is extremely LOW because we have learned how to head off such tendencies and treat the occurrences.  Imagine what this kind of experience can provide the “typical plastic surgery patient.”  The techniques our specialized surgeons use are also honed to provide optimal healing and results.  Does the other surgeon you are considering for your tummy tuck use the LipoAbdominoplasty technique (pioneered in Brazil) that will save you several days of recovery, spare you lost sensation in the ab region, afford faster healing, less incidence of typical post op complications, less post op swelling and the ability to lipo and sculpt the torso at the same time?  Has your other choice of surgeon placed hundreds of the new “gummy bear” cohesive gel implants or a couple dozen?

We do not exaggerate our numbers, or fluff our statistics claiming hundreds of patients per year.  We do what we love, our surgeons and other caregivers (nurses, physiotherapists, Director of Concierge Services, etc) each do what they love and so everyone does it WELL.  We do not try to be everything to everybody.   We have consistently taken the “high road” when it comes to comments on our “competition” and colleagues of our surgeons.  We simply believe that sensationalism has no place in what we do and integrity will always shine through.  MedNetBrazil is honored to have been featured in two top Medical Tourism Handbooks (Beauty from Afar and Patients Beyond Borders) in representing Brazil and the model for a responsible Medical Concierge Service.  Most of the services in Brazil that have followed in MNB’s footsteps provide services for a particular doctor, loyal to him/her and looking out for HIS interests.  MNB does not.  OUTSTANDING OPTIONS were part of our Mission Statement since our inception five years ago.  With competent, skilled surgeons, confident in what they can offer our patients, there is no insistence for exclusivity.  MNB’s high standards must be maintained and if we find that they are not, we simply will not compromise.  This is, after all, not only a huge investment of time and money, but also a potentially life-altering decision.  MNB’s surgeons and other professional caregivers that make up our entire team maintain an acute awareness of the responsibility and trust you place in us when you make this decision.  85% of our patients have never even left the USA before choosing to come to Brazil with us.  This speaks volumes of the trust we earn. WHERE ARE WE GOING?

We have already expanded our Bilingual doctor base to include Dentists, Dermatologists, Gynecologists, Cardiologists, Bariatric/Weight Loss Surgery, Lasik Eye surgery, Opthalmology, Orthopedics and Varicose vein surgery, ... really the list will continue to grow.  Although we started with Plastic/Reconstructive Surgery, our vision was expansive from the beginning. Our evolution is a promise and a necessity in today's world of exorbitant medical fees, lack of adequate insurance coverage, HMOs and even the FDA deciding what procedures or treatments can be performed on our own bodies!  It is also natural because the world is getting smaller.  We are well-informed as a people and realize that our own country does not hold the monopoly on excellent medical care and treatment; that the benefits of going outside the US are not necessarily only monetary and we can weigh them and decide for ourselves.  There are plenty of resources to help us research these opportunities.   MedNetBrazil.com is such a resource.
