This is a list of the most popular surgeries.  Ask any Plastic Surgeon worldwide about the reputation of Brazil as the Capital of Plastic Surgery and they will agree…  Brazil is known worldwide for its expertise and innovations in Plastic and Reconstructive Surgery as well as Cosmetic (Aesthetic) procedures in general.  Surgeons from all over the world go to Brazil to learn the newest and most successful techniques. It is an aesthetically demanding culture where everyone wants to look good (remember they live in bikinis almost six months out of the year!).  The desire for plastic surgery creates an incredible demand for constantly evolving techniques to please this vain culture.  Brazilian surgeons perform up to 50 surgeries per month to meet this demand and can offer affordable prices due to their volume.  In spite of its economy, Brazil is second only to the USA in number of Plastic Surgery Procedures performed per year and considered THE Innovator in Plastic Surgery, so many times there are things available here that haven't even been heard of in the USA, or that is called by a different name....OR, what is being touted as “NEW” in the USA is actually Old news here in Brazil.  Please inquire with us at concierge@mednetbrazil.com for a procedure you do not see here.

1. For those that are post WLS (Weight Loss Surgery) and Massive Weight Loss and looking at “Body Reconstruction,” please realize that ANY Plastic Surgery procedure, like a breast lift, for example, can vary widely.  It can be a simple lift that takes one hour and minimal skin resection and pedicle recreation, or it can be a total RECONSTRUCTION on a breast that has no longer has any similarity to a “normal” breast.  Hence, the ranges in prices for each procedure.   
2. These surgery fees INCLUDE the hospital, surgeon, anesthesiologist, and surgical team!  Operating Room time and anesthesia and material charges are charged to the surgeon OUT OF THESE fees, so, obviously, charges to the surgeon for a one hour breast lift and a three hour breast lift (“reconstruction” literally) will be substantially different and here is where you will see variances based on your INDIVIDUAL CASE, in your Treatment Plan, usually shown as “Extra Skin Resection.”   During your Consultation, you and he will discuss the best procedures for you to obtain the results you want!

These prices do not include your Aftercare and Medical Transport which of course, is an extremely important part of your stay, your recovery and overall results, (not to mention your budget!).  We offer a Medical Basics Package Plan that will be detailed in your Treatment Plan that will help you budget for this as well.

ABDOMINAL/TUMMY TUCK PROCEDURES

LipoAbdominoplasty/Tummy tuck                   $3500-4000 USD

This is a REVOLUTIONARY and highly advanced procedure compared to a standard Tummy Tuck or Abdominoplasty and INCLUDES lipo and contouring of the torso!  Less experienced surgeons do not want to associate a lipo procedure with skin resection.   This LipoAbdominoplasty technique was developed in Brazil more than six years ago by one of our surgeons and he now teaches it worldwide.  It is a superior technique in that the lipo canula is used (instead of a scalpel) to separate the fascia from the skin which allows contouring and sculpturing of the torso/abs and since the canula is rounded and does not “cut,” the nerves and blood supply are preserved, minimizing loss of sensation and the risk of post op complications such as necrosis and also speeding healing since the vascular system is not compromised and the blood flow, essential to healing, is preserved! This procedure will include muscle work if needed.    The incision is made low across the hips, belly button opening is cut out, skin is loosened from the fascia up to under the breasts and muscles are tightened by sewing them together and pulling them down. Skin is pulled down, and the excess skin is removed. A new hole is created for the belly button and then you are sewn up across the hips. Generally, the skin that is NOW at your waist on either side of your belly button, ends up right above the pubic area at the incision site.

Extended LIPOAbdominoplasty                      $3800 - 4500 USD

This procedure extends the above abdominoplasty procedure incision to out around the hips to help lift the outer thighs somewhat and the extra skin often found on the hips.  If additional skin resection is needed and the incision needs to extend further around the back, additional skin resection charges will be estimated.

Mini LipoAbdominoplasty                              $2200 – 2500 USD

(no muscle repair and no belly button replacement)           This is an acceptable procedure for those that do not have a lot of "above the waist" skin redundancy and muscles are in good shape.  This procedure is less invasive. The same incision is made at the hips in the bikini line, but the muscles are not tightened and the belly button is not replaced.  The extra skin or apron is simply pulled down and removed.  Lipo is usually needed to sculpt the torso a bit. Note: For those that are post-WLS (massive weight loss) this is usually NOT an option.

Mini LipoAbdominoplasty                              $2600 – 3000 USD

(with endoscopic muscle repair and/or minimal belly button replacement)

Hernia Repair (in addition to TT)                   $  900 - 1200 USD

This price is for the additional repair of any hernias located in the abdominal region if you are already having a procedure that gives access to the abdomen, such as an abdominoplasty.  If it is a particularly large hernia or one that will require a mesh to repair it, this price needs to be discussed with the surgeon.

Vertical Incision Added to Abdominoplasty/LBL        $1000 - 1200 USD

This procedure will help address excess "above the waist" skin redundancy and cinch the waist.  This procedure will create a new belly button of course and is the best to redo the scar from "open" WLS procedures.  It can be added to a TT or Extended TT or even LBL procedure.  This is also the price for those maybe that already had the anchor incision TT and need the waist cinched after lipo or something like that.

Lower Body Lift/Belt Lipectomy                             $5500 USD

This procedure is most extensive.  This is the above LipoAbdominoplasty (please read above) with Torso/Body Contouring AND combined with the Butt lift and Outer Thigh (saddebag) lift.  An incision is made all the way around the body and ends in a V at the top of the buttocks.  It addresses the tummy, the outer thighs and the buttocks all at the same time.  It also will help some skin redundancy of the lower back.

BUTT FLAP PROCEDURE (ADDED TO LBL or Butt Lift)        $600-900 USD

This technique is also revolutionizing the reconstruction possibilities of plastic surgery especially post weight loss where buttock volume is severely lost.  This procedure can add volume to the buttocks by taking advantage of a fat deposit often found right above the buttocks.  It is essentially an implant using the nearby flap of your own tissue/fat.  It is NOT the same as Micro-Fat Grafting or Fat Injections.

BREAST PROCEDURES

Important Information Regarding Breast Implants: Type of Implant:  Although Saline implants are available in Brazil, the implant of choice of course are Cohesive Gel Implants (called “gummy bear” implants in the US).  Although only recently liberated for use in the USA, they have been in widespread use here in Brazil for more than 6 years and our surgeons have years of extensive experience in placing them.  IMPLANT IS PURCHASED SEPARATELY:  The following prices for INSERTION of breast implants DO NOT INCLUDE THE PRICE OF THE COHESIVE GEL IMPLANT!  Here in Brazil, the implant is purchased separately.  Currently the price for the pair of Cohesive Gel Breast Implants is R$2400 for round, high profile, Extra high round is R$2600 and R$3000 anatomical (teardrop) profile.  You will need to divide this price by the current exchange rate that is effective at the time of purchase.  (For example, with the exchange rate right now- October 2007 - at R$1.90 to $1.00 USD, this makes the price for the round, high profile breast implants at approximately US$1250. The size and shape you will need will be determined at your Consult.  Please bring a bra you would like to “fill out” to help judge the size implant you will need.  They are NOT sold as “B cup, C cup,” etc! Brand Used:  We prefer to use the highest quality brands of implants rather than brands like Silimed, or perhaps a “domestic brand” etc.  We use the Internationally recognized brands MENTOR or MAGHAN implants because of their quality, US FDA approval, availability in the USA and the fact that they can be registered.  Please see the links section for links to these companies’ websites.

Male Breast Reduction:                                $2000 - $3000 USD

Gynecomasty (literally, female breast) is caused by excessive development of mammary glands in men and occurs in hormonal alteration phases (such as puberty).  There are a couple techniques to reduce the size of the breast in males, including lipo only.  Sometimes that is all that is necessary.  The extent of the scar will depend on the amount of tissue and/or gland to be excised.  Generally the anchor incision is used.  It CAN involve aerola (nipple) size reduction (although the aereolas are NOT removed, so as to preserve sensitivity!) so a cut around the areola, a vertical line down to the breast fold/crease, and then a horizontal incision IN the crease/fold.  Of course, Brazilian Plastic Surgeons are KNOWN for their aesthetic approach to this and so any chance to minimize the extent of the scar, and yield pleasing results, will prevail!

Breast Reduction Only:                                $2800 - 3200 USD

This procedure is meant for those with a LOT of breast tissue that needs to be reduced to give a more pleasing and proportionate shape and size.  The extent of the lift and the scar will depend on the amount of tissue or gland to be excised.  Generally the anchor incision is used.  It involves aerola (nipple) size reduction (although the aereolas are NOT removed, so as to preserve sensitivity!) so a cut around the areola, a vertical line down to the breast fold/crease, and then a horizontal incision IN the crease/fold.  Of course, Brazilian Plastic Surgeons are KNOWN for their aesthetic approach to this and so any chance to minimize the extent of the scar, and yield pleasing results, will prevail!

Breast Lift/Reconstruction:                           $2500 - 2900 USD

This procedure is for those with little breast tissue left (common after weight loss surgery or nursing) and so minimal pedicle recreation is needed.  It will include placement of implants if necessary (however the implants themselves are purchased SEPARATELY, see below!).  The extent of the lift and the scar will depend on the amount of tissue or gland to be excised.  Generally the anchor incision is used.  It involves aerola (nipple) size reduction (although the aereolas are NOT removed, so as to preserve sensitivity!) so a cut around the areola, a vertical line down to the breast fold/crease, and then a horizontal incision IN the crease/fold.  Of course, Brazilian Plastic Surgeons are KNOWN for their aesthetic approach to this and so any chance to minimize the extent of the scar, and yield pleasing results, will prevail!

Breast Lift WITH Implants:                           $2500 - 2900 USD

The same incisions mentioned above are generally the same used in the patient that has implants placed WITH the lift. Sometimes, placement of implants only will effectively “lift” the breasts.  Implants are almost always placed BEHIND the muscle, but there are cases where the surgeon will prefer above-the-muscle placement.  This will be discussed and determined at your Consult.

Standard Insertion of Implants only                       $2300 USD Insertion through the Armpit                                 $2700 USD

Generally, the incision to insert the implants is made directly under the breast, in the breast fold and is usually quite small, maybe 3 inches or so.  There are other incision techniques used like through the armpit or areola or even through the abdomen, but it does depend on the individual case.  The surgeon will discuss this with you at your Consult.  Implants are almost always placed BEHIND the muscle, but there are cases where the surgeon will prefer ABOVE the muscle placement, sometimes for example, in large implant insertions (350ml or higher).  This will be discussed and determined at your Consult.

BUTT PROCEDURES

Butt Lift (back half of LBL)                            $2900 - 3300 USD

This procedure raises the buttocks and often the outer thighs.  It is RARE to be able to do ONLY this procedure.  Be aware that some touch up around the sides and front is often needed to give best results.  The surgeon will let you know how best to proceed.  Gluteus cohesive gel implants, yes butt implants, can be an option as well during or after this procedure, as well as the “Butt Flap” procedure described below.  This procedure will also help address some of the skin redundancy on the lower back.

Butt Flap Procedure (ADDED TO BUTT LIFT OU LBL)  US$600-900

This technique is also revolutionizing the reconstruction possibilities of plastic surgery.  This procedure can add volume to the buttocks by taking advantage of a fat deposit often found right above the buttocks.  It is essentially an implant using your own tissue/fat.  It is NOT the same as Micro-Fat Grafting or Fat Injections.  Fat Grafting, Fat Injections or

Brazilian Butt Lift                                                $500 – 800 USD

This is a procedure that uses lipo’d fat from other regions of your body and it is injected into the buttocks.  It enhances, contours, sculpts and adds usually permanent volume to the gluteus area, rejuvenating and beautifying this all- important area.  It is often referred to as Micro-Fat Grafting, or Fat Injections.  Sometimes the fat is reabsorbed into the body, but generally this area preserves it well.  This is the price that would be in addition to other procedures performed at the same time (namely lipo since it has to come from somewhere!)

Insertion of Gluteus Implants **   $3200 USD PLUS price of IMPLANT

The Gluteus (Butt) implants are inserted through an incision made in the actual crack of the butt at the top, rendering it virtually invisible.  They are placed INTRAMUSCULAR and can usually be done at the same time as a butt lift or thigh lift only.  This is because the recuperation procedure is such that you will NOT be allowed to lay flat on your back for the first 30 days post op.  That means you will be sleeping on your stomach, or side so combining this procedure with any "front of the body work" (especially breast work) is not really feasible.  Sitting is a restriction for about ten days post op.  If you have problems already with the sciatic nerve, this may aggravate the problem. Since every body is different, sometimes the implant will be close to the nerve and sometimes not.  The surgeon can see the nerve at the time of placement and verify the placement of the implant.  Usually the nerve problem appears immediately post op, due to the swelling post op, more than the placement of the implant itself.  The gluteus implant is made specifically for the butt and is a different shape and size than breast implants. ** The prices for INSERTION of butt/gluteus implants DO NOT INCLUDE the price of the cohesive gel implant. The current price for these implants are appx R$2800 (Appx US$1400).  Here in Brazil, the implant is purchased separately. The size you will need will be determined at your Consult.  The supplier has plenty of stock so there is no need to know the size beforehand.

OTHER PROCEDURES COMMON POST-MASSIVE WEIGHT LOSS

Inverted Butt Lift                                                $2000 - 2400 USD

This procedure addresses very adequately, those that have buttocks that have more droopy or loose skin at the BASE of the butt (rather than the low back/ top of butt) and the heavy saddle bags at the outer thighs.  The incision can be combined with a LBL a TT, and/or an Inner thigh lift, so that the incisions meet.  To describe the incision for now, it basically begins at the top of the inner groin and comes around and under the butt and the loose skin is resected there.   The incision can be extended (via extra skin resection) to continue up and around the outer thighs more at the TOP of the outer thighs (hip joint area) so that the saddle bags can really be addressed better since they can be pulled up from CLOSER to the problem area (hip joint approximately) rather than from the waist as with just a LBL or extended TT. This procedure can give a better appearance to the butt too since it tends to make it slightly more rounded and some tissue can be “molded” into the butt at the base at the incision.  Be prepared for perhaps longer recovery time for this procedure as well and also to be laying on your stomach during your recovery.  The skin in this area is sensitive and we want you well healed before sitting on a plane for such a long time.

Inner Thigh Lift                                           $2200 - 2700 USD

This procedure uses a Brazilian Plastic Surgery technique that consists of removing the fat/tissue under the SKIN via LIPO, then the flaccid skin is removed with a scalpel.  Since the vital lymph nodes are found in the inner thigh area, simple scalpel excision of the fat/tissue inside the inner thigh has been known to result in the accidental removal or disruption of the lymphatic system which can cause severe swelling, sometimes permanent.  However, using the Brazilian technique, the tube (lipo canula) they use to suction is rounded and so it does not harm the lymph nodes, nor the blood vessels etc and does not remove them - the opening is not large enough and the instrument is not sharp.  Additional lipo procedure in this same area (for sculpting/reduction purposes for example), is a different fee and considered an additional procedure.  The incision is a “T” or sometimes an “S” incision in most cases that would end mid-thigh.  How far it extends down the thigh, and WHERE the scar is placed, depends on the individual and the amount of skin and tissue to be resected and also therefore, the price. Unless you have very limited redundant skin, a simple incision and tuck in the groin/panty-line, will not address the lift of the skin properly, leaving you dissatisfied with your results.  Again, case by case, by your surgeon.

Arm Lift (Batwing removal)                           $2200 - 2500 USD

This procedure uses a Brazilian Plastic Surgery technique that consists of removing the fat/tissue under the SKIN via LIPO, then the flaccid skin is removed with a scalpel.  Since the vital lymph nodes are found in the underarm area, simple scalpel excision of the fat/tissue inside the underarm area has been known to result in the accidental removal or disruption of the lymphatic system which can cause incredible swelling, sometimes permanent.  However, using the Brazilian technique, the tube (lipo canula) they use to suction is rounded and so it does not harm the lymph nodes and does not remove them - the opening is not large enough and the instrument is not sharp.  Additional lipo procedure in this same area (for sculpting/reduction purposes for example), is a different fee and considered an additional procedure. The incision is a T incision in most cases and would end in the middle of the upper arm.  How far it extends down the arm depends on the individual and the amount of skin and tissue to be resected, and also therefore, the price. Unless you have very limited redundant skin, a simple incision and tuck in the underarm, will not address the lift of the skin properly, leaving you dissatisfied with your results.  Again, case by case, by your surgeon.

Underarm Lift/Resection                               $1200 – 1500 USD

This is a procedure to address the “armpit jowls” that is simply not addressed with the pulling down of the “over the bra hang” extended incision nor by the lift through the arm lift (batwing removal) incision.  This is an extremely delicate area filled with lymph nodes and sweat glands.  The lipo procedure is also used here so as not to disrupt the glandular system.  Generally, this incision will extend FROM the armpit T of the batwing removal, down through the armpit (or along the side) to meet the “over the bra hang” incision in a T.

Back Resection                                           $1700 - 1900 USD

This procedure will resect the skin across the back in the bra line.  For those that have skinfolds on the back, especially the upper back, this will properly address their removal.

Extra Skin Removal/Resection                       $500 - 1800 USD

IMPORTANT!!  If you have extra skin in an area, for example:  "over the bra hang" or "hip flab" or back folds...  basically separate parts that need resecting, this area can be addressed either by extending the incision (if it already close to a region being operated on) and depending on the length of the extension of the excision...  for example, a few extra inches or so on either side of the breast lift to address the “over the bra hang” will run about $500.  This will probably have to be quoted at your actual consult, but we can give you a good idea by your pics.  Granted, it is obvious that an arm lift incision for example, that would normally end mid-upper arm, but actually extends down to the elbow and in some cases, somewhat around the elbow, is really twice the incision, twice the time, twice the work, twice the amount of stitches and other material uses.  For this reason, we have created this method of personalizing your surgery needs.

Mons or Pubic Lift/Special Resectioning          $900 - 1200 USD

Sometimes this area is able to be addressed solely with the lift involved with the TT or LBL.  In most post-Weight Loss Surgery cases, it is not and will require actual separate resectioning or even lipo.  If it does require separate lifting or addressing, this is the fee.  Your need for this will be assessed with your Treatment Plan pics and discussed at your consult.

LIPO PROCEDURES

Lipo (One to 2 zones, ie: abs & hips)             $1700 USD

This is the MINIMUM charge for either ONE or TWO lipo zones.  This is because the hospital charges the doctor the same minimum fee for use of the lipo instruments and accompaniments (then adds to that, of course, depending on OR time) whether he does one small zone of lipo or SIX zones of lipo at a time.  Note that the LipoAbdominoplasty technique will not charge extra for lipo of the abdomen.

Additional Lipo Zones                                  $900 USD per zone

The separate zones are the following: abs, upper back, lower back, flanks, hips, waist, underarm area, chin/neck to address jawline, outer thighs, inner thighs, front of thighs, back of thighs, mons pubis, ankles, calves, inner knee globs, upper inner arms and upper outer arms. Micro Fat Grafting/LipoSculpture                    $500-$800 USD/region

This procedure is the transplantation of lipo'd fat from one area to placement in another area.  You have to have the right "texture" of fat in order to attempt the transplantation.  It can be used as a filler (not in the breasts, however) for the butt, the hips, etc.  It is not a procedure with guaranteed results.  Sometimes the body will reabsorb the fat and you will effectively "lose" the results of the procedure.  Most times, depending on where it is inserted and the “quality” of the fat, it holds perfectly and the results are permanent.

Lower Face Lift                                           $2900 - 3200 USD

This lift will address the crows feet somewhat, cheeks, improve nasal-labial folds and neck.  The incision generally traces the front outline of the ear, around the ear lobe, up about midear and straight back into the hairline an inch or two.  Depending on the severity of the lift needed, this incision could be less.  It will NOT include the underlying neck muscle repair called the platysma.  If it is determined to be needed by the surgeon, it is an additional $300 USD.

Mini Facelift                                                        $2700- 3000 USD

This will treat only the mid face, the nasal labial folds and the incision will only extend to just under the earlobe, it will not go into the hairline and will NOT address the “turkey waddle” neck or the muscle repair.

Endoscopic Forehead Lift Only                       $2700-3000 USD

This procedure requires 3 – 5 incisions, of 1-2 cm/each, in the scalp.  The front corrugator muscles are cut (giving a somewhat permanent Botox/relaxed effect).  There are options for securing the lift of the forehead skin including a newer product/method using Endotime plaques (a small triangular plate that is actually absorbed by the body in about 6 months).  This would be purchased separately.  You can consult with the surgeon as to which method/product you prefer and which will give you the best results.

Eyelid Lift                                                  $1700 USD

This procedure addresses the delicate eye area and will lift both the upper and lower eyelids and address the fat pockets under the eye.

Upper or Lower Eyelids only                         $900  USD

Chin Implant                                              $2000

Includes silicone implant.  The incision to place the implant is made inside the mouth so there is no visible scar on the face or chin.

Cheek Implant                                            $1500 USD + implant

The incision to place the implant is made inside the mouth so there is no visible scar on the face or cheek.

Eyebrow Lift                                               $1000 USD

This procedure is called a Modified  Castanhares Technique.  It is not the endoscopic brow lift.  It is accomplished with a very small incision just above the eyebrow hairline and the brow is lifted and given a bit of an arch.  It will address only the eyebrows.

Nose                                                         $2000 - 2800 USD

This is the fee for a COSMETIC procedure to the nose, however, this procedure can be combined with the expertise of an Ear, Nose and Throat Specialist to address problems in the nose outside the expertise of plastic surgery or in addition to the cosmetic surgery of the nose.  You will generally need to have clearance from an ENT specialist if you plan on nasal reconstruction to verify there is no septum deviation or other defect or obstructive problems to be addressed, that could actually become worse (or finally evident) after plastic surgery.  Please email info@MedNetBrazil.com.

Ear Pinning (prominent ears)                         $  1000 – 1200 USD

This procedure can be performed on a child as young as 5 years old.  This price is for a local anesthetic procedure.  If it is performed in the hospital with sedation or general anesthesia, the price will need to be discussed prior.

Botox                                                                $ 300 USD/zone

Please note that this price will be for treating (for example) the ENTIRE forehead, or crows feet, or eyebrow area!!

Augmentation/Fill-In (Metacril, Restylane, etc)        $ 400 USD/zone

Per region price.  Metacril is the best treatment for lip augmentation, back of the hands and other fill in problem areas.  It is permanent, compared to collagen, Artecoll, Restylane which are only temporary. For more info on this product, see the link section. Perfecta ou Metacril (so o metacril e permanente) ** Artecoll vs Metacril:  Artecoll is Metacril PLUS Collagen.  Collagen, in this formula CAN cause an allergic reaction.  Metacril is a non-allergenic product.  Metacril IS permanent... although it DOES have to be touched up later on down the road but NOT because the product is not stable/permanent, but because the fat/collagen in the treated area CONTINUES to disappear/deteriorate and NOT the Metacril.  So fill ins are actually a fill in of more lost fat in this area and NOT a fill in of the Metacril because it has been absorbed or is not permanent or something like that.

Facial Peeling (PeriOral)                               $  500 - 700 USD

This is NOT a chemical peel but an abrasive technique that gives best results on caucasian (light) skin.  It helps to improve the texture of the skin surrounding the mouth  (this is NOT an acceptable procedure for the entire face) and helps with lines, imperfections and wrinkles and is performed during a face lift procedure.

Chemical Peel Procedure:                             $250-350 USD/session

This procedure involves a chemical product and can only be done AFTER the facelift procedure.  Generally it takes 3-4 sessions up to a week apart.

Fraxel Laser Procedure:                                $800 USD/session

This is a laser resurfacing procedure and usually requires a couple sessions to yield the best results.  Again, submitted pictures will help the surgeon determine your need.  It tightens and resurfaces the skin helping with acne scars and also skin texture in general.  Hollywood Celebrities are having this procedure performed over their entire bodies!!
